25 Sep 2013 teacher training with Aadil
I’ve had two full days at Alive & Shine Center in my final session for my 500 hour training, and I do mean full. We’ve gotten our test so we can prepare for our written and oral exam fully. We’ve team taught two classes, gone over teacher assists, had our first business class of the session, and our check-in time. It is inspiring to see how we have grown since the last session: greater confidence while teaching, deeper knowledge of the poses, more self-assured in our being. I’ve also picked up some great tips for working with the upper trapezius muscles even when they want to be hard as rocks. I can’t wait to share these with students when I get back.
Today marks our first of two days with Aadil. And tomorrow we will have the opportunity to teach in front of him! We have chosen our sequence, divied up the poses, and almost settled on a theme. I picked Bhujanghasana (Cobra pose), and am so excited about to teach it tomorrow.
Thank you so much to everyone who has made it possible for me to be here: Mili and Kim for subbing my classes, my students, my family, and my support system of friends and colleagues, and Whitney for holding the energy of our household entirely on his own. I couldn’t do this without you and thankfully, I don’t have to.

Posted at 23:17h, 25 SeptemberThanks, Roberta! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the subs. I’m having the time of my life out here. Today with Aadil was so inspirational. AND I learned a TON of new shoulder stuff that I can’t wait to share with you… Tomorrow is the first of three tests: teaching for Aadil. So excited!
