Discover Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy in this session that introduces the evolution of consciousness, the four parts of our being, and how Heartfull Meditation serves as a gateway to intuitive, aligned living.
Poet, philosopher, political revolutionary, and yogi, Sri Aurobindo was a visionary thinker whose influence shapes the foundation of Purna Yoga. Though he remains lesser known in the West, his ideas are among the most profound contributions to Indian philosophy and the evolution of consciousness.
Educated in England, Aurobindo Ghosh returned to India convinced that his life’s work was to help liberate his homeland. He became a central figure in the Indian independence movement. But a year in Alipore Jail changed everything. During that time of deep spiritual awakening, he realized his true calling: not just political freedom for India, but spiritual liberation for all of humanity. After his release, he stepped away from politics and, alongside his collaborator Mirra Alfassa (The Mother), founded the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. It became a living laboratory for spiritual transformation.
At the heart of his teachings is a radical idea: we are meant to evolve. Not just personally, but collectively. His Integral Yoga calls us to examine the multiple parts of our being, access higher intuition, and live from a deeper truth. In this workshop, we’ll explore key philosophical concepts from Aurobindo’s work, including the evolution of consciousness and the fourfold nature of the self. We’ll also learn how Heartfull Meditation can help us align our inner compass. These teachings offer guidance for wise action in a world where clarity, courage, and compassion are more essential than ever.
When we study Sri Aurobindo's philosophy, we're not just introduced to grand, beautiful ideas, but practical wisdom to help us live life. – Letitia Walker
